The Morson Maker Space

Located in the Basement of the Newton Building, we are free for all staff and students at the University of Salford to use for academic work, research, personal projects, and product prototyping.

Coronavirus Information

The way you use the Maker Space has changed. For more information, see our dedicated Coronavirus page.

As a rule we don't purchase equipment that we can't teach students or staff to use. Drop in to work on personal projects, product prototypes, academic work or just to hang out.

  • 3D Printing

We have a variety of 3D printers available to facilitate rapid prototyping and model making.

  • Laser Cutting

CO2 Laser Cutters let you quickly cut and engrave plastic and wood with remarkable precision.

  • Waterjet Cutting

For harder materials like steel and aluminium you can use the 5-axis Waterjet Cutter to realise your designs. We can even cut less resistant materials like carpet and foam!

  • Electronics Prototyping

Grab an oscilloscope and track down a tricky problem, or start from scratch with one of our beginner Arduino courses.

  • CNC machining

Training is available on preparing files for our Haas CNC mill which is capable of milling aluminium and steel with ease.
